After Josephine

After Josephine is a short film I made whilst in London. It's based on a letter written by my grandfather to my grandmother; an analysis of their life together, a short goodbye.

The Story

The story draws a alludes the love story of Napoleon and Empress Josephine with a heavy touch of magical realism. I wanted to combine the european history that my family has with the latin american beating heart of my grandparents. Its was a challenge to work with the lighting and props to create the right mood for the piece.

The Production

Because the film was very, very much a low budget one (200 pounds total) I had to work very closely, and effectively, with my team. From hiring equipment, to casting, to location scouting and call sheet making, every step of the project had to be carefully curated.

The shoot lasted two days, it involved a team of 10 people and two different locations. Post production took around a month and involved color correcting, voice over work and plenty of editing in Premiere Pro.
